Factum Framework and the Factum commons libraries are Apache-2.0, free forever. The vertical products — Banking SDK · Agents · Financial — are source-available under the Business Source License (BUSL-1.1) and license per user for production use.

Frequently asked questions
Why does Factum use two licenses?
Framework adoption is the funnel. An Apache-2.0 framework with no strings attached is what gets evaluated, adopted, and taught — the wider that reach, the more teams eventually need a governed banking SDK, agent runtime, or financial substrate built on top of it. The BUSL products carry the license that funds building and maintaining that work; a fully permissive license on everything could not sustain it.
What does BUSL let me do without paying?
The source for the Banking SDK, Agents, and Financial repositories is open: read it, build against it, and evaluate it end to end, including in development and other non-production environments. What requires a paid license is running it in production.
What happens after the change date?
Each release converts to Apache-2.0 four years after that release ships. Older releases become fully open on their own schedule even as newer releases stay under BUSL until their own change date arrives — the license only loosens over time, never tightens.
Who counts as a user?
A user is a developer who builds against the SDK, not an end customer of whatever you build with it. Ten engineers writing code against the Banking SDK is ten licensed users, regardless of how many account holders or transactions the resulting system serves.
Who is the licensor?
Factum Technologies LLC is the licensor of record for both the Apache-2.0 framework and the BUSL-1.1 products, and the counterparty on every commercial license. Licensing questions go to [email protected].
What does the early-customer program lock in?
Design partners who license during the early-customer program pay 50% of list price, locked for 24 months from the start of their license. The rate applies per product license and to the platform bundle.
